  • Midwifery is part of the back to basics trend in women's healthcare. A trend away from healthcare systems which focus more on institutional guidelines, liability costs and procedures than on a woman's needs. Gentle Birth Clinic offers a variety of women's health services with an emphasis on the individual.

Our staff provides annual exams for women of all ages. The physical exam is gentle and thorough. We immediately address any concerns we find. You will understand what we are doing and why we are doing it every step of the way. We educate women regarding their healthcare options so that they can fully participate in deciding the plan of care. Every client has access to an extensive lending library including more than two hundred videos so that together we can research the available information on a wide variety of healthcare issues. Together we will work to improve your overall health.

Clearly, one of the biggest issues we at Gentle Birth Clinic deal with is fertility. We offer products and education to improve fertility awareness. Once you are aware of when you are fertile you can plan or prevent pregnancy. We provide prescriptive and non-prescriptive birth control, including IUD placement and cervical caps. We are experienced in treating infertility and have had success without drugs or invasive procedures. Our care addresses issues that can prevent miscarriage of a desired pregnancy.

What about preconceptual care? We at Gentle Birth Clinic believe that caring for your child should begin before you conceive him or her. Your body needs to be primed and ready in order for you to successfully create and sustain a pregnancy to term. Did you know that a mild yeast infection (one you might not even know you have) could prevent conception. How about anemia? Many women are anemic and don't realize it. Anemia prior to conception can worsen in pregnancy and cause significant complications in the mother and in the fetus. If you visit us while you are planning a pregnancy, we will determine your health status and make recommendations that will improve the well- being of pregnancy before it begins. Once you achieve a pregnancy, your routine bloodwork does not have to be repeated. Based on the results of your exam, we will help you correct any problems and make any necessary lifestyle changes prior to conception so that you have the best possible outcome. Preconceptual care can improve your chances of conceiving and carrying a baby to term without complications.

Gentle Birth Clinic believes that menopause can be managed without synthetic hormones. After reviewing diet and lifestyle issues we use herbs and homeopathy to reduce the number and severity of symptoms faced by our clients. We counsel women regarding nutritional and lifestyle changes that can improve their menopause experience. Many of our clients express their delight to discover they can survive the change of life without the cost, risks, and side effects of hormone replacement therapy.

If preserving the environment is a concern, we have several women's health care products that might interest you. We can also connect you with several companies and catalogs that offer products that we have found to be reliable, economical and earth-friendly. All of the herbal remedies that we use are organically grown and some of our products are privately labeled and made exclusively for our practice. We invite you to contact us with your questions or to set up a time to visit our office.
